French broadcasters TF1 (TF1.FR) and M6 (MMT.FR) expect the
television advertising market to be difficult in 2012, the heads of
the two companies Nonce Paolini and Nicolas de Tavernost said at a
conference Tuesday, without giving any specific forecasts.
"Nobody can believe that 2012 will be an easy year," said
Paolini, the Chief Executive of TF1, when asked about the
television sector and how the advertising market would evolve.
Advertising revenue "will depend on European and French growth,"
he added.
The CEO of M6, Nicolas de Tavernost, described next year's
market outlook as "complicated," due to the deteriorating economic
outlook. "There are clouds over consumption, this should have
consequences on advertising," he told Dow Jones NewsWires on the
sidelines of the conference. The CEO declined to give a more
precise forecast.
