Tirex Resources Ltd. ("Tirex") (TSX VENTURE:TXX) is pleased to announce that
drilling has commenced on the Old Man Mountain Anomaly which is a high priority
coincident geophysical and geological drill target. The Old Man Mountain Anomaly
has never been drilled during any previous exploration programs and is a target
that Tirex identified using modern exploration methods and interpretation.

The Old Man Mountain Anomaly is a coincident AeroTEM, UTEM and Induced
Polarization anomaly that has similar geophysical features and occurs in the
same geological setting as the nearby Koshaj Deposit where earlier this year
Tirex drilling intersected wide zones of high grade mineralization (See Tirex
news releases dated March 3, 2008 and May 1, 2008).

Tirex has three drills now turning at Mirdita. The current areas of drilling
are: Gurthi Central, where Tirex is testing the downdip extension of the Gurthi
Central Deposit No. 1 which was a significant historic copper-gold producer;
Gurthi South which is a large area with historically reported mineralization,
and at the previously undrilled Old Man Mountain Anomaly.

Bryan Slusarchuk, CEO, states, "The Old Man Mountain Anomaly has our exploration
team at Mirdita excited. It is a target that was never subject to any previous
drilling because it was hidden under cover rock and was only identified as a
prospective Noranda-type VMS target after Tirex began the first ever large scale
modern exploration of this District. Generating these types of highly
prospective targets is indicative of the progress we are making at Mirdita by
utilizing modern exploration techniques and interpretations. We look forward to
keeping investors posted as the testing of this highly prospective anomaly
progresses."

The Old Man Mountain area of the property is host to a felsic-dominated volcanic
sequence that draws a compelling direct geological comparison to the
Gurthi-Koshaj-Mushte corridor that hosts numerous volcanogenic massive sulphide
("VMS") deposits in the District. After the anomaly was initially identified by
the airborne geophysical survey, Tirex completed UTEM and Induced Polarization
ground geophysics followed by detailed geological mapping of the area to define
the initial drill targets. The initial drill holes planned at Old Man Mountain
are relatively shallow holes through a melange cover rock unit. The drilling is
being conducted with a highly portable and environmentally friendly Canadian
drill.

Tirex is a company purpose-built to explore and develop the large 344 square
kilometer Mirdita Property in Albania. The nature of the VMS mineralization in
this District provides Tirex investors with exposure to a high grade basket of
metals: Copper, Zinc, Gold and Silver. The property is readily accessible by
paved and gravel roads and is located 70 km north of the capital city of Tirana.
The property covers the core of the historically productive Mirdita VMS base
metal district. It represents an opportunity to explore Copper, Zinc, Gold and
Silver zones that were previously partially mined, explored or evaluated at
lower metal prices, and provides an opportunity to apply modern exploration
techniques toward the discovery of new VMS deposits and extensions of known
zones. In addition to the historical deposits identified by previous state-run
exploration, Tirex has identified numerous high priority exploration targets
resulting from the 2007 airborne geophysical survey, ongoing ground geophysics,
geological mapping and other field work. The Mirdita exploration project is
managed by an experienced team of Canadian geologists and other professionals,
and several senior Albanian geologists, geophysicists and surveyors.
