Uber Technologies Inc. has begun offering grocery delivery in
some Latin American and Canadian cities, the San Francisco-based
company said Tuesday. The new service follows Uber's 2019 agreement
to acquire Cornershop, a Chilean grocery-delivery startup.
Grocery orders places on Uber and Uber Eats will be delivered by
Cornershop workers, Uber said. Consumers will be able to track
deliveries through Uber's apps.
The service will be expanded to the U.S. later this month, Uber
said. The announcement follows Uber's confirmation Monday of its
plan to acquire Postmates Inc., a meal-delivery service, for about
$2.65 billion.
