Preferred Bank Clarifies Loan Portfolio Information
October 30 2007 - 9:00AM
PR Newswire (US)
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Preferred Bank
(NASDAQ:PFBC), today wishes to clarify information contained in its
press release announcing results for the 2007 third quarter issued
on October 18, 2007 regarding the composition of the Company's loan
portfolio. In the aforementioned press release dated October 18,
2007, the Company indicated that as a result of an FDIC examination
conducted during the third quarter, some loans previously
classified as non-residential real estate were subsequently moved
into the construction loan category. This change in classification
was intended to be made for regulatory accounting purposes only and
involved the classification of land loans. Call Report instructions
require these to be classified as construction and land
development. Preferred Bank categorizes these land loans in its
Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q and Annual Report on Form 10-K in the
real estate -- mini perm category. The loan portfolio table in the
October 18, 2007 press release had classified these land loans in
the real estate -- construction category instead of real estate --
mini perm. We apologize for any confusion that this has caused. The
table below contains the corrected composition of Preferred Bank's
loan portfolio for each period indicated. Balance for the period
ended (in thousands): September 30, June 30, December 31, 2007 2007

largest independent commercial banks in California focusing on the
Chinese-American market. The bank is chartered by the State of
California, and its deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation, or FDIC, to the maximum extent permitted by
law. The Company conducts its banking business from its main office
in Los Angeles, California, and through ten full-service branch
banking offices in Alhambra, Century City, Chino Hills, City of
Industry, Torrance, Arcadia, Irvine, Diamond Bar, Santa Monica and

Bank continues to benefit from the significant migration to

community banks, the larger commercial banks and other major banks
operating in Southern California by offering a high degree of
personal service and responsiveness, experienced multi-lingual
