PARIS--French construction and infrastructure company Eiffage SA (FGR.FR) plans to make 1 billion euros ($1.26 billion) in revenue from non-European businesses within five years as it expands abroad, Chief Executive Pierre Berger said Thursday.

"We have an ambition to make EUR1 billion in revenue from the large international market (outside Europe) within five years," Mr. Berger said during a press conference.

The company plans to expand especially in Africa, where it will try to obtain contracts within 12 to 18 months for building railways and roads, Jean-Louis Servranckx, the head of Eiffage's public works division, said.

Unlike its competitors Vinci SA (DG.FR) and Bouygues SA (EN.FR), Eiffage, the third-largest construction company, doesn't have a large presence outside France.

In the first half of this year, 84% of the company's revenues came from France and most of the rest came from Europe. The company aims to book EUR14 billion in revenue in 2012.
