TORONTO, Jan. 27, 2015 /CNW/ -- With the 2015 NFL Super
Bowl XLIX rapidly approaching, the distributed antenna system at
University of Phoenix Stadium, home of
the National Football League's Arizona Cardinals, has been upgraded
with antennas from Galtronics Corporation Ltd., a Baylin
Technologies (TSX:BYL) company, as part of the preparations for a
superior mobile experience.
In preparation for Super Bowl XLIX, Galtronics' antennas were
selected for a major upgrade of the University
of Phoenix Stadium's DAS. The primary goal of the project
was to enable the approximately 72,000 fans that will fill the
stadium to use their mobile devices for any purpose and enjoy a
high-quality experience, whether during football's most celebrated
event; the Cardinals' regular season; or the trade shows and
conferences that are hosted at the venue throughout the year.
Galtronics' high-performance antennas were chosen for the
stadium DAS upgrade. The rollout included the recently announced
narrow-beam EXTENT™ D5777i antenna, the industry's first and
only 30 degree/30 degree all-band stadium antenna that is
specially designed to allow high sectorization within a venue. This
enabled RF engineers to plan and implement a particularly dense
network that can seamlessly handle high-capacity communications in
University of Phoenix Stadium and
provide the best possible wireless experience.
The EXTENT™ D5777i antenna has fast roll-off beams and minimal
side lobes. It also covers a particularly broad frequency range of
698-960/1710-2700 MHz, making it an attractive and future-proof
choice for wireless network deployments.
"Stadiums and arenas face an enormous challenge with events such
as the Super Bowl: the massive amount of data traffic that is being
generated demands systems with much higher wireless data capacity,"
said Ephraim Ulmer, CEO of
Galtronics. "We are proud that our innovative, technology-leading
DAS antennas, and especially our unique, narrow-beam 30 degree/30
degree antenna, have played a leading role to provide high
capacity coverage at University of
Phoenix Stadium, making the game an all that much more
enjoyable experience for the fans."
Construction of the DAS took place in October of this year. The
final touches have been made in recent weeks to include enhanced
coverage outside the stadium, with antennas placed on light poles
and on the shell of the stadium. The upgrade is now complete and
Super Bowl-ready.
"The D5777i (30 degrees/30 degrees) is part of our outstanding
high-performance stadium/arena antennas portfolio, including the
D5501i (30 degrees/60 degrees) and the D5778i (60 degrees/60
degrees). They are designed to perform to high specifications with
the ability to support highest number of sectors at any venue,"
said Ben Bar, Galtronics Executive
VP sales & Marketing.
University of Phoenix Stadium will
host Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1, with
a halftime show featuring entertainer Katy
Perry.
