NEW YORK, July 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Taiwan Fund, Inc. (NYSE: TWN) (the "Fund"), announced today that it was in discussions with JF International Management Inc. ("JFIMI") to serve as the Fund's new investment manager to replace the Fund's existing investment management arrangement with Allianz Global Investors U.S. LLC ("AllianzGI").  JFIMI is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase & Co.  If the discussions are successfully concluded, it is anticipated that JFIMI will commence managing the Fund's portfolio under an interim investment management agreement no later than July 21, 2014 and, subject to approval by the Fund's stockholders, will enter into an investment management agreement with the Fund.  The Fund anticipates that it will hold a Special Meeting of Stockholders in September 2014 to approve the agreement with JFIMI.

The Fund is a diversified closed-end investment company, which seeks long term capital appreciation primarily through investments in equity securities listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.  Shares of the Fund are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "TWN."
