FirstEnergy Seeks Solar Photovoltaic Alternative Energy Credits for Pennsylvania Utilities

FirstEnergy Corp. (FE) on Monday said the utility was seeking to
purchase Solar Photovoltaic Alternative Energy Credits and was
issuing a Request for Proposal for the purchase of 120,500 credits
annually over a two-year period.
FirstEnergy said the purchase would be made on behalf of three
of its Pennsylvania utilities -- Pennsylvania Power Co.,
Pennsylvania Electric Co. and Metropolitan Edison Co.
The Brattle Group will conduct the process, FirstEnergy said,
and bids will be due by Feb. 27.
Under Pennsylvania law, a portion of electricity sold in the
state by electric distribution companies and electric generation
suppliers must come from alternative resources.
