CHARLOTTE, Mich., April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Spartan Emergency Response ("Spartan" or "Spartan ER"), a business unit of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAR) ("Spartan" or the "Company"), will introduce a new aerial and pumper at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) this month. The all new purpose-built designs include a 93' Mid-Mount Platform designed for operation in tight spaces, and an evolution to the Intelligent Pump Solution pumper, the IPS-NXT, which allows for traditional pumper volume in a more maneuverable platform.

The fire trucks are on display at Spartan Motors' booth #5121 at FDIC, together with eleven apparatus and two cab and chassis models representing the Spartan, Smeal, Ladder Tower, and UST product lines. Spartan will also be showcasing a UST Heritage Tanker mounted on a Freightliner 114 SD Chassis at the Freightliner booth #5020.

FDIC is the world's largest firefighting tradeshow, bringing together first responders from more than 65 countries for a weeklong expo showcasing the latest in emergency response technology and safety innovations. The conference runs April 8-13 at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, in Indianapolis.

"FDIC is a terrific platform to share our new safety-driven designs," said Todd Fierro, President, Spartan Emergency Response. "Spartan is committed to engineering solutions that advance first responder safety and efficiency, and we do so with an unmatched commitment to manufacturing excellence."

With safety at the forefront, the Company's new Ladder Tower 93' Mid-Mount Platform presents unparalleled performance in a compact package. As one of the most maneuverable vehicles in Spartan ER's product line, the truck design allows for unmatched agility in tight urban and suburban environments. Building on Ladder Tower's industry-leading aerial prowess, the new 93' Mid-Mount Platform offers fire departments across the country proven performance and long-term reliability alongside unrestricted agility on fireground operations.

Spartan's second new truck being unveiled at FDIC, the IPS-NXT, offers first responders a powerful rescue pumper combination with a compact design, making it one of the most versatile pumpers in the industry. Its tight turn radius, short wheelbase, high horsepower, compact external cab dimension (available in a 94-inch cab), and maximum water flows provides a balanced and high performing platform for urban, suburban, or rural operations. The IPS-NXT is the ultimate solution for departments that demand a multi-functional pumper without compromising high-flow pump capacity.

"With output up to 2,250 gallons per minute, Spartan's IPS-NXT's compact design is as unassuming as it is unprecedented," continued Fierro. "Our industry hasn't seen this type of rescue pumper, and based on customer feedback, it's a welcome addition to the industry."

The IPS-NXT provides the capabilities of a large pumper with the versatility of a rescue unit, yet its smaller footprint makes it easier to maneuver in tight spaces. Its engine is a Cummins X12 with up to 600 HP; 500HP in a narrow cab. The truck is also customizable to provide lower flows and alternate engine packages and other characteristics to tailor to the changing needs of the departments it will serve.

Both trucks feature the industry's top-rated Spartan Advanced Protection System® which includes outboard sensors, side-impact protection, driver-side knee airbags, full side-curtain airbags, and advanced seatbelts.
