Kratos Wins U.S. Air Force Contract for Global Strike Command Aerial Gunnery Training
October 08 2018 - 8:00AM
Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: KTOS), a
leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that
it was awarded a Task Order (TO) from KBR Wyle for an additional
year of UH-1N Aerial Gunnery Simulation Training for the U.S. Air
Force at the Kratos Aircrew Training Center (KATC) in Orlando,
Florida.
Kratos has been conducting Aerial Gunnery
Training (AGT) for Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Special
Mission Aviators since 2017.
Kratos’ Aircrew Training Center’s full-mission
simulators provide a cost-effective solution by minimizing
lifecycle expenses associated with simulator ownership while
maintaining training quality. AFGSC aircrew members are led by
experienced Kratos instructors and train using the latest
technologies and simulation systems to ensure mission
readiness.
In addition to aerial gunnery training the KATC
provides advanced rotary-wing and search and rescue training.
The original IDIQ contract was awarded last year
by KBR Wyle. This is the second TO issued under that contract. Due
to customer related, competitive and other considerations, no
additional information is being provided relative to this
competitive contract award.
As Jose Diaz, Senior Vice President, Kratos
Training Solutions explains: “Virtual reality is a proven training
alternative to live training. High-fidelity simulation systems can
cost millions of dollars to own and sustain. When budget or time
constraints prevent acquisition of such systems, the Kratos Aircrew
Training Center can provide aircrew members with crew coordination,
rescue hoist, and cargo sling operations, as well as AGT training,
equivalent to what they would have received on their own simulator
or aircraft while maximizing training budgets and increasing
readiness.”
To meet the challenge of increasingly
sophisticated weaponry, tactics and readiness demands, Kratos
utilizes cutting edge technologies to develop synthetic training
environments (STE) that deliver world class maintenance and
operational training solutions that reduce costs, speed development
and deliver high-fidelity performance. Kratos’ warfighter training
solutions employ an extensive array of training products and
services for air, ground and naval platforms. Integrating the
latest in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed
Reality (MR) technology with its state of the art simulation
systems and instructional design capabilities, Kratos’ blended
training systems address a broad spectrum of training
disciplines.
