Private equity firm OpCapita, the owner of U.K.
appliance-retailer Comet, has thrown a potential lifeline to Game
Group PLC (GMG.LN) by making a rescue proposal to take control of
the stricken computer-games retailer, U.K. daily The Telegraph
reported on its website Wednesday.
In a statement late Wednesday, Game confirmed a third party "has
shown interest in providing additional funding for the company,"
the newspaper said.
It is understood the buyout group has offered to acquire Game's
debt from its lenders, led by Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), and pay
suppliers' outstanding bills in full, the newspaper wrote.
