The Company has today been notified that AW Gooch MBE JP Chariman and Chief
Executive of the Company purchased 12,345 Ordinary shares at 162p on 25 July
2001.

Following this purchase Mr Gooch's beneficial holding is 1,658,353 Ordinary
shares representing 9.21% of the Company issued share capital
