        POSTPONEMENT OF ISSUE OF SENIOR DISCOUNT
                          NOTES
                            
Atlantic Telecom Group PLC ("Atlantic") announces that it
has postponed a proposed issue of Senior Discount Notes
due to adverse conditions in the market for such issues.

Commenting, Graham J Duncan, Executive Chairman of
Atlantic stated: "The market for senior discount notes,
particularly in the United States, has deteriorated
sharply over the last two weeks largely as a result of
the number of issues that have come to the market
recently.  The Board of Atlantic therefore decided to
postpone the issue rather than subject the Company to
interest rates which they felt were unacceptably high and
were not in the best interests of the shareholders.  The
Company will consider revisiting the issue when market
conditions improve.

The Company continues to make good progress with customer
numbers continuing to build."
