Mayflower Wind on Monday said it submitted "low-cost bids of
power from its planned offshore wind farm to the Connecticut
Department of Energy and Environmental Protection."
Mayflower submitted two proposals with the state, for an 800MW
development and a 400 MW development.
Mayflower is a joint venture of Shell New Energies US LLC and
EDPR Offshore North America LLC.
Mayflower has the rights to develop up to 1,600 MW of offshore
wind power from an area 20 miles south of Martha's Vineyard. In
August, the company submitted four proposals with the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts, three for 800 MW the fourth for 400 MW. "Governor
[Ned] Lamont has outlined a vision for moving Connecticut toward a
clean energy future, and we believe our proposal can play a role in
advancing that vision in an affordable manner," said John Hartnett,
president of Mayflower Wind.
