As unconventional oil and gas drilling sparks a major economic boom in resource-rich regions across the country, On the Move Systems Corp. (OTCBB: OMVS) opened partnership talks this week with a chemical transportation company based in the hydrocarbon hotbed of Texas.

The dramatic increase in unconventional drilling in Texas, North Dakota and elsewhere has exponentially expanded the demand for trucking and shipping of chemicals and hazardous materials. By acquiring or forming a joint venture with a company specializing in such transportation services, OMVS plans to capitalize on the energy boom and add another niche service to its broad array of consumer and business-to-business travel and transportation offerings.

“By acquiring or partnering with an experienced service provider, we can begin providing more of the specialized transportation options that the market increasingly demands from us,” said OMVS CEO Robert Wilson. “We hope to announce a signed preliminary agreement with a Texas-based specialty transporter very soon.”

All summer, OMVS has targeted trucking and shipping companies who can handle out-of-the-ordinary cargo as the company works to build a network of transportation and logistics partners that can move many varieties of cargo by truck, rail, sea and air. The company signed a letter of intent last month to partner with a Texas-based provider of specialty freight and shipping services in order to create a new oilfield trucking firm.

By forging strategic partnerships with cutting-edge travel and transportation providers, OMVS plans to build a network capable of offering a wide range of niche solutions. The company expects to market and develop new services that will allow the company to compete alongside Con-way Freight (NYSE: CNW), Saia (NASDAQ: SAIA) and Old Dominion Freight Lines (NASDAQ: ODFL).
