With the demand for oilfield trucking at an all-time high, On the Move Systems Corp. (OTCBB: OMVS) announced today that it’s exploring potential partnerships that could add highly sought trucking companies to its online transportation portal currently in development.

Last year was a record industry for the U.S. oil and gas industry, producing higher amounts of both commodities than ever before. The U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates that total domestic oil production will increase by nearly one million barrels per day over 2012’s total, and that growth is only expected to continue.

Transportation is an element critical to maintaining that pace. About 66,000 more trucks were demanded in 2012 than in 2011 due to the expansion of oil shale extraction, according to the Abilene Reporter-News. Qualified drivers are in short supply in areas such as West Texas, where the Cline Shale play will likely dramatically increase demand soon. Shale extraction requires large amounts of water and sand to be hauled to wells.

By adding oilfield trucking services to its growing suite of online transportation options, OMVS plans to connect oilfield services companies with the trucking businesses faster and more easily than ever before. The company is building a one-stop Internet destination for purchasing charter flights, luxury car services, intermodal transportation, pet shipping and many other niche offerings.

Last week, the company acquired a stake in a luxury transportation company and finalized its first revenue sharing deal. The new portal is planned to come online next year.

Specialty services such as oilfield trucking are part of the company’s plans to market and develop new solutions to compete in the online travel market alongside Priceline.com (OTCBB: PCLN), TripAdvisor.com (OTCBB: TRIP) and Expedia.com (OTCBB: EXPE).
