Gateway and Wynn Resorts to Establish New Luxury Standard for
Digital Hotel Rooms New Digital Display Deal Is Among Industry's
Largest POWAY, Calif. and LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
-- In what will be one of the consumer electronics industry's
largest and most closely watched commercial deals for digital
displays and other consumer electronics, Gateway, Inc. and Wynn
Resorts, Limited have struck a relationship that will establish the
forthcoming Wynn Las Vegas resort as the standard setter for luxury
hotel rooms outfitted with digital gear. (Logo:

relationship calls for Gateway to supply approximately 7,000
customized Gateway-branded plasma and LCD TVs as well as hundreds
of DVD players and other products at Wynn Las Vegas, a 2,698-room
resort that is scheduled to open in April 2005 on Las Vegas' famed
Strip. Gateway and Wynn Las Vegas staff have been collaborating for
months to customize products that will best accommodate the rooms
-- each of which is slated to be equipped with between two and four
Gateway digital TVs, among other equipment. Standard rooms are
planned to include a 30-inch Gateway LCD TV on a sleek, swinging
arm in the living room and a 13-inch Gateway LCD TV mounted in the
bathroom wall, while certain suites will include 50-inch Gateway
plasma screens that appear to "float" in the living room, as well
as Gateway LCD TVs in "his and her" bathrooms and Gateway DVD
players in the wet bar area. In addition, the new relationship
calls for Gateway to supply more than 200 digital TVs to
high-traffic common areas in the resort. Wynn Resorts plans to use
Gateway LCD and plasma TVs for dynamic messaging and program
broadcasting in the resort's casino, restaurants, sports book and
poolside cabanas. Finally, Gateway plans to make all of its
products featured throughout the property available for purchase at
the resort. This new relationship marks what is believed to be one
of the largest-ever digital TV transactions and illustrates the
extent to which Wynn Resorts continues to redefine global
hospitality by setting a new standard for the use of digital
display technology in guest rooms and public areas. It is also an
endorsement of Gateway's rapid success in transforming itself from
a PC company to a branded integrator of consumer electronics
devices that work together seamlessly and marks the company's
biggest success to date in delivering its new branded integrator
approach to the professional space. Together, the two companies
will continue to engage in hands-on design of cutting-edge consumer
electronics products consistent with Wynn Resorts' track record for
delivering a hospitality experience of the highest standards by
leveraging Gateway's direct model velocity and product innovation,
and both companies' forward-looking vision of knowing what future
customers will want and need. Stephen A. Wynn, the chairman and CEO
of Wynn Resorts said, "After speaking to every major consumer
electronics company in the market, we chose to work with Gateway
because of their superior products, their ability to customize them
to our exact specifications and their excellent value. Gateway
shares our commitment to knowing customers' needs and exceeding
them with products and services that provide an outstanding
experience." Ted Waitt, Gateway's chairman and CEO, said, "By
providing consumer electronics products throughout the property's
rooms and public areas, Wynn Las Vegas will set a new standard for
what guests expect of a luxury resort. It's gratifying that
Gateway's been selected for such an enormous undertaking. It
demonstrates just how much traction our new strategy is getting --
not only among consumers but among key professional customers." The
45-story, $2 billion Wynn Las Vegas Resort is positioned in the
super- luxury end of the Las Vegas market. Built on approximately
192 acres, it will encompass a three-acre swimming pool and spa, 18
restaurants and the only 18-hole golf course on the Strip, as well
as an approximately 120,000 square foot casino, plus a full-service
Ferrari Maserati dealership. It will also house the art collection
of Stephen and Elaine Wynn, which at various times has included
works by such masters as Gauguin, Matisse, Cezanne, Van Gogh,
Rembrandt and Picasso. Bob O'Donnell, research director at IDC,
called the new relationship between Gateway and Wynn Resorts a
significant development in the growth of digital display technology
and a confirmation of Gateway's standing in the industry. "This is
one of the largest digital display transactions we've seen to date
and a strong sign of how much growth potential remains for these
products, particularly outside the home," Mr. O'Donnell said. "The
fact that a non-traditional consumer electronics player was awarded
a contract of this size illustrates just how dramatically the
consumer electronics paradigm is shifting." About Gateway Since its
