FRANFURT--New car registrations in Germany rose 3% in January
compared with the year-earlier period, increasing at a lower rate
than in the previous two months, industry group VDA said
Tuesday.
"The German passenger car market got off to a good start to the
year, continuing the trend of previous months," VDA President
Matthias Wissmann said.
The rise in January registrations, a mirror of sales, to 218,400
was below the 8% increase in December and the 9% rise in
November.
Exports of German cars fell 6% on the year to 313,600 in
January, VDA said, and production fell 2%. VDA said January this
year had less one working day than in January 2015.
