Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of
enterprise business software solutions to the midmarket and Global
1000 companies, today announced two of its customers --
Build-A-Bear Workshop® and Sports Chalet -- are the recipients of
Retail TouchPoints' 2009 Channel Integration Awards, given to 15
top retailers demonstrating best-practice cross-channel strategies.
Build-A-Bear Workshop was honored in the Specialty Toy category,
while Sports Chalet took top honors in the Sporting Goods category.
Other top retailers named winners were: Toys "R" Us (Toy &
Hobby); Moosejaw (Outdoor Specialty); Best Buy (Consumer
Electronics/Appliances); Sears (Mass Merchant -- Department
Store/Automotive); Bliss (Health & Beauty); Victoria's Secret
(Women's Specialty Apparel); Borders (Books, Audio and
Accessories); DSW (Footwear); David's Bridal (Specialty Apparel --
Wedding and Special Occasion); Tesco Fresh Express (Supermarket);
Walgreen's (Drug); Staples (Office Supply); and Target (Mass
Merchant -- Home Furnishings).
Nominations were reviewed based on criteria including: sales
gains, especially within emerging channels; convenience of shopping
options, such as seamless cross channel shipping and pick up;
cross-channel marketing, including in-store advertising for Web
site and e-mail marketing for store sales; customer recognition
across channels, for those retailers that have a single customer
view; and, integration of systems, including order management and
sales history. The awards program was sponsored by Retail
TouchPoints, an online media outlet and community whose editorial
focuses on promoting "retail strategies to optimize every customer
interaction."
"We'd like to congratulate both Build-A-Bear Workshop and Sports
Chalet on their cross-channel success and in being named recipients
of the 2009 Channel Integration Awards," said David Henning,
executive vice president and general manager, Epicor Retail. "To
successfully compete in today's challenging and severely
competitive marketplace, smart retailers know they must integrate
selling strategies across channels. Build-A-Bear Workshop and
Sports Chalet are proof positive that innovation, together with the
support delivered via Epicor technology, can drive integration to
create a robust cross-channel customer experience."
Relying on various Epicor Retail solutions, including CRM,
Point-of-Sale, Merchandising and Sales Audit, Build-A-Bear Workshop
polls relevant information back to its headquarters and that
enables the company to better serve guests. The POS system delivers
a unique code on each printed receipt for buildabearville.com®, the
Build-A-Bear Workshop virtual world where guests can redeem credits
for virtual merchandise and bring their Build-A-Bear Workshop
friends to life online.
Sport Chalet implemented Epicor Retail Enterprise Selling to
ensure shoppers' needs can be met from every store location. Since
introducing this "save the sale" functionality, Sport Chalet has
experienced improved employee productivity, and improved revenues
by addressing demand and maximizing inventory turns. Customer
satisfaction levels remain high as needs are quickly met and
shoppers are assured with detailed timing as to when their
purchases will arrive.
Cross channel retailing is widely sought after, yet often
difficult to attain. In her recent research note, "Epicor Retail
Perspectives 2009: Creating a Differentiated Message in a Largely
Undifferentiated Retail World," Retail Research Director Janet
Suleski of AMR Research talks about the significance of cross
channel retailing in today's world and Epicor's ability to support
this key emerging requirement. "A lot of software vendors talk
about supporting cross-channel retailing, but Epicor is doing
something about it," writes Suleski. "Pre-built connectivity
between the order management application, Retail Enterprise
Selling, and the Epicor Retail Store suite is generally available,
allowing cross-channel order visibility, status updates, and stock
locator queries. The biggest differentiator is inventory
reservations across channels, which is something few other retail
applications adequately support."
Today, many of the world's leading retailers utilize Epicor
Retail solutions and services to become more profitable,
productive, competitive and eco-friendly. Epicor's solutions
leverage proven Microsoft .NET technology to improve business
operations and meet the evolving merchandise and service
expectations of today's cross-channel shoppers. Epicor delivers
comprehensive retail management solutions to enterprises in all
tiers -- from regional chains to multichannel global brands. Retail
customers include hundreds of marquee names, from Aéropostale,
American Eagle Outfitters, and Ann Taylor to Zales and Zumiez.
