American Airlines today announced that Poonam Mohan has been
promoted to Vice President – Information Technology. This position
was previously held by Patrick O’Keeffe, who was named American’s
Senior Vice President – People, in May 2017.
“With projects such as implementing critical new forecasting
models and pricing tools for Revenue Management, and the first
International Premium Economy product among U.S. carriers, Poonam
has a proven track record for meticulous planning and delivering
tremendous results,” said Maya Leibman, American’s Chief
Information Officer. “Poonam is a strong leader who asks insightful
questions that quickly get to the heart of the matter. She is well
known for creating strong relationships and is passionate about
technology and how it can be used to enhance the customer and team
member experience. These attributes will make her a great fit in
this new role.”
In addition to American’s critical effort to integrate its Human
Resources and Payroll systems, Mohan will oversee the airline’s
vital Passenger Service (Reservations) System, which is the
backbone of the customer experience. She will also oversee
technical delivery of programs for Revenue Management, Network
Planning, Revenue Accounting, Finance, American’s three wholly
owned regional carriers and alliance and joint business partners,
and the airline’s Operations Research team, which designs
mission-critical decision and optimization tools.
Mohan joined American in 2002 in Marketing. In her 15 years with
the company, she has held leadership positions in business
technology, applications development, and revenue and planning
technology. Most recently she has served as Managing Director –
