At A lower Cost. JERICHO, N.Y., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Optimum
Lightpath(SM), a market leader in Ethernet-based communication
solutions for New York metropolitan area businesses, today
announced that New Jersey-based Howell Township School District has
selected Optimum Lightpath as its telecommunications provider. The
switch from the incumbent provider to Optimum Lightpath has enabled
Howell Township's 12 schools, 6,800 students and 1,500 teachers to
realize greater operational efficiencies and enhanced instructional
processes. More Bandwidth, Faster Internet and Voice Services for
Less Recognized as the third largest digital school district in the
nation, for its size, the Howell Township School District quickly
outgrew its ATM network. As overall Internet connectivity and
connections between buildings slowed significantly, the district
could no longer implement new technologically advanced initiatives
for students and faculty. To meet its IT, operational and
educational needs, Howell Township School District turned to
Optimum Lightpath to replace its T1 ATM technology with an advanced
Ethernet-based Private Fiber Network running at Gigabit speeds, in
addition to its popular Internet and voice service bundle. With
Optimum Lightpath, the district increased its bandwidth from 6
megabits to 50 megabits, enabling faster, more efficient support of
advanced digital education applications for less. Empowering 21st
Century Education and Increased Efficiencies "Optimum Lightpath has
given us a great solution, and economically, it's been a great
decision," said Tom Aquino, Howell Township School District
Director of Information Technology. "Now we are exploring all kinds
of things we could not do before: using teleconferencing,
conducting video conferencing with NASA and the national archives,
deploying SMART Boards, using WebEx to increase efficiencies, and
using podcasts for teaching and research. Service has been solid as
a rock and we look forward to using it more and more." "Howell
Township School District is a shining example of the evolution of a
digital classroom and an innovative digital school district," said
Dave Pistacchio, President of Optimum Lightpath. "As our smart
schools continue to deploy fiber-to-their-business and more
