FTSE 100 Set to Open Lower Ahead of BOE Decision
The FTSE 100 is expected to start trading slightly lower as
investors look ahead to the Bank of England's policy decision later
Thursday. Spreadbetting firm IG expects London's blue-chip index to
open down 6 points. While the BOE is likely to keep its policies
unchanged, it will "still be noteworthy if there is dissent on the
pace of the bond buying program, and whether the bank will look at
slowing the pace," CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson says. "The
Monetary Policy Committee's main challenge will be anchoring
expectations and keeping their options open on when to expect a
rate rise," he says. The BOE announces its decision at 1100
GMT.
