TOKYO-August 2, 2000 TDK Corporation granted options to purchase repurchased
common stock to directors and employees on August 1, 2000 as prescribed in
Japan's Commercial Code. The details of the options granted are as follows:

Shares repurchased:         170,400
Repurchase period:          July 3, 2000 through August 2, 2000
Options granted:            August 1, 2000
Exercise price:             Yen 2,665,056,000

The exercise price was calculated by multiplying by 1.05 the average daily
closing price of TDK shares during the month prior to the month when the options
were granted. Result was rounded up to the nearest yen.

Validity of options:    Options may be exercised from August 1, 2002 through
                        April 30, 2006





TOKYO-August 2, 2000 TDK Corporation has repurchased its common stock on the
open market for the purpose of transfers to directors and employees as
prescribed in Japan's Commercial Code. The details of the repurchase are as
follows:

Repurchase period:         July 3, 2000 through August 2, 2000
Number of shares:          170,400
Cost of shares repurchased:Yen 2,664,649,550
Repurchase method:         Tokyo Stock Exchange transactions

With this repurchase, TDK has completed the repurchase of all shares under the
