PREMIER HIGH INCOME TRUST PLC

On 6 August 2004 the Company purchased in the market for cancellation 150,000
Zero Dividend Preference shares at a price of 128.00 pence per share.

This repurchase reduces the number of Zero Dividend Preference shares in issue
to 14,537,326.
