PREMIER HIGH INCOME TRUST PLC

On 17 December 2002 the Company purchased in the market for cancellation
200,000 Zero Dividend Preference shares at a price of 97.0 pence per share.

This repurchase reduces the number of Zero Dividend Preference shares in issue
to 15,147,326.
