PREMIER HIGH INCOME TRUST PLC

Pursuant to enquiries under S212, the Company was informed today that Scottish
Equitable Asset Management plc have an interest in 945,000 Ordinary 10p
shares, representing 4.86% of the issued class of capital.  The shares are
held in a variety of Broker Funds which are owned by Scottish Equitable and
run by the following Broker Fund Advisers who also have an interest in the
shares:-
