CHAIRMAN'S COMMENTS AT THE AGM - 25TH MAY 2004


Metalrax Group in strong financial position


The following statement was made by Mr Eric Moore, chairman of Metalrax Group
PLC, the engineering specialists, at the annual general meeting held in
Birmingham today:-

"During the first four months of this year business patterns have been broadly
similar to those experienced in the equivalent period last year. Trading
performance has continued to run generally in line with management expectations.

"In the annual report we expressed concerns relating to the prices and
availability of raw materials, especially steel. The most recent Bank of England
Inflation Report has confirmed these price rises, together with oil, other
commodities and housing.

"Our executive teams are responding to the challenge of minimising the impact of
these cost pressures in a fiercely competitive marketplace.

"The group remains in a strong financial position from which to boost selective
investment programmes and maximise opportunities for growth".
