Morgan Est wins #38m Thames Water tunnels project
Morgan Sindall plc, the construction group, today announces that its
infrastructure services provider Morgan Est has been awarded a #38 million
contract by Thames Water to design, construct and commission a 4.9km tunnel in
south London.
The tunnel will extend the Thames Water Ring Main (TWRM) from an existing shaft
in Brixton to a new pump out shaft at Honor Oak Reservoir. The tunnelled
extension and provision of a new pump out facility at Honor Oak includes
associated mechanical, electrical, instrumental, control and automation (MEICA)
works. The facility will provide Thames Water with greater reliability in the
supply of water to its customers and allow for the transfer of water from the
Ring Main to Honor Oak Reservoir. Work on site is due to start in March 2007 and
will be completed in March 2010.
Paul Smith, Chief Executive of Morgan Sindall plc, said:
"Tunnelling is one of the core skill sets of Morgan Est and we are pleased that
our expertise has been recognised through the award of this project. This
contract adds to and strengthens our order book through to 2010."
