Carpetright plc (the "Company") 
 
EMPLOYEE BENEFIT TRUST 
 
The Company has today received notice from Equity Trust (Jersey) Limited in its 
capacity as trustee of the Carpetright plc Employee Benefit Trust (the "Trustee" 
and the "Trust" respectively) that 2,000 ordinary shares in the capital of 
Company were purchased on 28 September by the Trustee at a price of GBP7.735 per 
share.  The Trustee's current holding of 19,869 shares represents 0.03% of the 
issued share capital of the Company. 
 
The Executive Directors have an interest in the Shares acquired by the Trustee 
as they are potential beneficiaries of the Trust.  The Trust was established to 
facilitate the operation of the Company's 2004 Long Term Incentive Plan (the 
"LTIP") and it is intended that the shares will be used to satisfy awards made 
under the LTIP.
