RETIREMENT OF DIRECTOR

Sir Harry Djanogly has today retired from his position as a non-executive
director of Carpetright plc. Sir Harry has been a director since 1993 and had
served on the Audit and Remuneration Committees as well as being the Senior
Independent Director until 2004 when Baroness Noakes assumed this
responsibility.

The Board would like to thank Sir Harry for his valuable contribution throughout
his period of office. Lord Harris commented, "Sir Harry has been an excellent
non-executive director for Carpetright, and his wise counsel has been of great
benefit to us over many years."
