                     Appointment of non-executive director

Carpetright plc, Europe's leading specialist carpet and floor coverings
retailer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Guy Weston as a
Non-Executive Director with effect from today.

Mr Weston, 44, is the Chairman of Heal's plc, Wittington Investments Ltd and the
Weston Foundation.

Lord Harris, Chairman and Chief Executive, said, "I am delighted to welcome Guy
to the Board as he brings a breadth of financial and retail experience to the
Company and is an ideal addition to our complement of non-executives."
