                   PLACING OF NEW ORDINARY SHARES

Clipper Ventures PLC has today placed 1,656,800 new ordinary shares at a price
of 42.25p per share, to raise approximately #700,000 before expenses.  The new
ordinary shares are being issued fully paid and will rank pari passu in all
respects with the ordinary shares currently in issue.  It is expected that the
new ordinary shares will commence trading on AIM on 2 November 1999.
