Birse Group plc, the UK construction group, announces that today it has
appointed Dr. Christopher Honeyborne as a Non-Executive Director of the
company.

Dr. Honeyborne spent 24 years in banking, and held a number of senior roles
with Lazard Brothers, Banque Paribas Group and Bank of N.T. Butterfield and
Son.

Dr. Honeyborne has also held a number of non-executive directorships.  Until
1998, he was a non-executive director of Yorkshire Water plc (now Kelda Group
plc) and he is currently a Director of Kunick plc and a number of other
companies.
