Barclays PLC (BCS) said Wednesday it appointed Zhi Zhong Qiu as Asia-Pacific vice chairman and chairman for Greater China of its investment banking unit.

The bank said in a statement Qiu was ABN Amro NV's China chairman and Asia vice chairman until April.

Qiu, who will be based in Hong Kong, is responsible for the development and management of senior client relationships and providing coverage for financial institutions, government agencies and corporates in terms of advisory, capital raising and risk management, the bank said.

He will report to Robert Morrice, chairman of Barclays Asia and the Asia-Pacific head of investment banking, the statement said.
