EUR35 BILLION GLOBAL COVERED BOND PROGRAMME

Issue of N Covered Bonds

On 8 November 2010, Abbey National Treasury Services plc announced that the terms of its EUR35 billion Global Covered Bond Programme (the "Programme") had been amended, with the agreement of the Financial Services Authority pursuant to the requirements of the Regulated Covered Bonds Regulations 2008, to allow for the issuance of Namensschuldverschreibungen ("N Covered Bonds").

Further to that announcement, today EUR45,000,000 3.50 per cent. N Covered Bonds due 2027 (the "Series 48 N Covered Bonds") have been issued by Abbey National Treasury Services plc pursuant to the Programme.

As is the case in respect of the Covered Bonds previously issued pursuant to the Programme, the Series 48 N Covered Bonds will be unconditionally guaranteed by Santander UK plc and unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed as to payment of principal and interest by Abbey Covered Bonds LLP.
