WARRANTS ISSUED BY BARCLAYS BANK PLC ON THE AUSTRALIAN STOCK EXCHANGE

Barclays Bank PLC ("Barclays") and ABN AMRO Australia Limited ("AAAL") announce
that with effect from the close of business on 27th February 1998 AAAL will
undertake market making for the warrants issued by Barclays on the Australian
Stock Exchange and will trade in the underlying shares for the purposes of
hedging the obligations of the warrant issuer to deliver shares upon the
exercise of the warrants.

These changes follow the completion of the sale of the Australasian investment
banking business of Barclays to AAAL on the terms announced on 21st December
1997.

ABN AMRO Equities Australia Limited (formerly, BZW Australia Limited) will
continue to act as broker to the warrant issues made to date by Barclays which
are traded on the Australian Stock Exchange.

The sale does not affect the rights of holders of warrants issued by Barclays.
