Barclays Bank PLC - Re Subsid's Purchase of Notes

On 22 December, 1997 Barclays Bank PLC announced that a
subsidiary of Barclays Bank PLC had purchased
US$35,000,000 nominal amount of Barclays Bank PLC Undated
Floating Rate Primary Capital Notes Series 1 and
US$22,070,000 nominal amount of Barclays Bank PLC Undated
Floating Rate Primary Capital Notes Series 2.
As a result of a change to the agreement between the
relevant subsidiary and the vendor of certain of these
notes, the amounts being purchased are now US$34,510,000
nominal amount of the Series 1 Notes, US$20,570,000
nominal amount of the Series 2 Notes and US$1,990,000
nominal amount of Barclays Bank PLC Junior Undated
Floating Rate Notes.
No decision has been made as to whether these purchased
notes will be cancelled, and a further announcement will
be made, as appropriate, in due course.
Until a decision has been made there will remain:
US$403,270,000 nominal of the Series 1 Notes in issue,
US$482,770,000 nominal of the Series 2 Notes in issue and
US$214,795,000 nominal of the Junior Notes in issue.
