FAA Certifies BRS Parachute System for the Cessna 182 Models of Aircraft The European Aviation Safety Agency Approves BRS System for Cessna 172 in Europe ST. PAUL, Minn., July 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ballistic Recovery Systems, Inc. (OTC:BRSI) (BULLETIN BOARD: BRSI) ( http://www.brsparachutes.com/ ) today announced it has received certification from the FAA, Federal Aviation Administration, on a parachute system for the Cessna 182 models of aircraft. The BRS system is already certified for installation of the Cessna 172 models of aircraft. The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) also recently approved the BRS system for Cessna 172, further expanding the systems global reach in the aviation community. "We are excited about being able to offer an emergency parachute system for the Cessna 182 models of aircraft along with the Cessna 172's. These systems incorporate the same life saving technology that has been incorporated into all of the Cirrus Design's aircraft as standard equipment," said BRS President & CEO Mark Thomas, adding that, "If we can make our products available for more aircraft, we think we can get more people flying. Our objective is to convince pilots that it's not just an inherent safety improvement for them but it's an improvement in the perception of safety for the passengers that fly with them." BRS is a South St. Paul, Minnesota based company that designs, manufactures and distributes whole aircraft emergency parachute systems for use on general aviation and recreational aircraft. "Improving aviation safety is the prime objective of BRS and saving lives is our most gratifying accomplishment," added Thomas. Since the early 1980's, BRS has delivered over 19,000 parachute systems to aircraft owners around the world. Actual documented uses of these systems are credited with saving the lives of 167 people. In April, BRS learned of two deployments in Cirrus aircraft within 36 hours of each other. On April 10th, a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida pilot deployed his plane's BRS parachute system landing in a Cypress grove in North Lauderdale. Also, on April 8th flying over the Monashee Mountains in British Columbia, a grandfather, his grandson, and two family friends encountered trouble but were able to land safely after a night deployment of a BRS parachute.
