Notification of major interests in shares



Regent Inns plc ("the Company") has today been informed that Schroder Hermes
International Limited has been renamed Hermes Assured Limited and is now
ultimately owned by the Trustees of the BT Pension Scheme.

As a result BriTel Fund Trustees Limited, the Trustees of the BT Pension scheme
have a notifiable interest in 2,749,371 shares representing 3.034% of the issued
ordinary share capital of the Company

The shares are registered as:-

Britel Fund Nominees Limited          2,399,614

Chase Nominees Limited                349,371
