2010 Marks Aflac's 12th Consecutive Year on Prestigious List
COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac, the company that pays
you cash when you are sick or hurt, has once again been named to
Fortune magazine's prestigious list of Best Places to Work For.
This marks the 12th consecutive year that Aflac has held a spot on
the list of Best Places to Work For. Aflac is listed at Number 37
on the prestigious list. "We are proud to have been named one of
Fortune's 100 Best Places to Work For for the 12th consecutive
year," Dan Amos, Aflac chairman and CEO said. "It once again
validates our company's long-held belief that if you treat your
employees well, they will take care of the business." Fortune
Deputy Managing Editor Hank Gilman says, "The most important
considerations for this year's list were hiring and the ways in
which companies are helping their employees weather the recession.
Of the 100 companies on the 2010 list, 65 are currently hiring,
representing a total of more than 92,000 open job positions." To
pick the 100 Best Companies, Fortune partners with the Great Place
to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in
corporate America. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the
results of the Institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a
random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks
questions related to their attitudes about the management's
credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. The other third of
the scoring is based on the company's responses to the Institute's
Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and
benefits programs, and a series of open-ended questions about
hiring, communication and diversity. The full list and related
stories appear in the February 8 issue of Fortune, available on
newsstands on Monday, January 25, and is available online now.
