ERLANGER, Ky., Jan. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- There's a
reason you might be seeing more Toyotas on the road. The
automaker of the best-selling car in America, the Toyota Camry,
produced at record levels in 2013 surpassing 2012 production
volumes. Toyota built 1,857,695 vehicles, a 5 percent
increase and 1,715,709 engines, a 3 percent increase from 2012 at
its 14 manufacturing facilities in North
America.
"Production is a direct reflection of a growing market and our
focus on building cars and trucks that exceed our customers'

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.
"As we look at 2014 and beyond we'll continue to deliver products
with the highest safety, quality, design and value."
2013 marked the following completed capacity increase projects
adding a total of 880 new jobs at Toyota's:
- Indiana plant boosting
Highlander production, including hybrid and export versions, by
50,000;
- Kentucky plant increasing
4-cylinder engine production by more than 100,000;
- Woodstock, Ontario plant
raising RAV4 annual capacity from 150,000 to 200,000 vehicles.
2014 will mark capacity increases at Toyota's plants for:
- Highlander in late 2014, a 15,000 unit increase in Indiana;
- V6 engine production, more than 215,000 units in Alabama;
- Lexus RX350 gas and hybrid models produced in Cambridge, Ontario; approximately 30,000
units;
- Automatic transmission (6 speed) production in West Virginia with the addition of a new
240,000 unit capacity line.
Toyota produces 12 customer favorite models in North America including: Avalon, Camry,
Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, RAV4, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Tundra,
Lexus RX350 and Venza and directly employs nearly 40,000 in the
region.
Over the past 26 months, Toyota has announced new investment of
$2.1 billion into its North American
manufacturing operations and has committed to boosting employment
by 4,000 at its facilities.
Currently exporting to 23 countries, Toyota's U.S. manufacturing
operations continue to grow as a key supplier of high quality cars
and trucks for global markets. In 2014, Toyota will continue to
explore more opportunities to expand this side of the business.
