State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT) today announced the
appointment of Marie Chandoha to its Board of Directors as a
director.
Chandoha brings a wealth of diverse financial services
experience and knowledge gained throughout her more than 35-year
career. Most recently she was CEO of Charles Schwab’s Investment
Management division (CSIM) where, during her eight-year tenure, she
transformed the business to support the company’s broader corporate
strategy. During her tenure she established a leadership team,
built a scalable operational platform and implemented a successful
distribution and marketing strategy which doubled the firm’s assets
under management.
“We are delighted to welcome Marie to our board,” said Amelia
Fawcett, lead director. “She is a richly experienced global leader
with a track-record of successfully developing and implementing
strategy to meet key objectives, as well as having a keen
understanding of the regulatory environment. Marie has great
knowledge of the asset management industry as well as extensive
experience in positions of governance and oversight. I know State
Street will benefit from the valuable insight and counsel that she
will bring to our board.”
Prior to leading CSIM, Chandoha was global head of Fixed Income
Business at Barclays Global Investors (acquired by BlackRock in
2009). In this role she led the global bond business comprising
index, institutional active, ETF, and alternatives products. During
this time Chandoha led a focus on commercialization, innovation,
and new product development and was credited with helping to grow
assets under management by more than $100 billion between 2007 and
2010. Before entering asset management, Chandoha held other roles
in financial services, including leading the global fixed income
and economics research team at Credit Suisse and as a senior bond
strategist at Goldman Sachs.
Chandoha has served on the executive committee and board of
governors of the Investment Company Institute. She currently serves
as a Trustee for The Nature Conservancy of California, chairing the
Finance, Strategy and Planning Committee. Chandoha has been
recognized for her many professional achievements over the past
several years including being named to American Banker’s Most
Powerful Women in Finance in 2017 and 2018, being recognized as the
Fund Leader of the Year at the Mutual Fund Industry Awards in 2018
and subsequently receiving their Lifetime Achievement Award in
2019.
