McKesson Corp. (MCK) said Thursday it will continue to serve as the prime pharmaceutical provider for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The new deal, which takes effect in August of next-year, calls for a two-year contract and options for up to three two-year extensions.

McKesson will continue to supply pharmaceuticals to the department's more than 750 locations, it said, adding the Department of Veterans Affairs runs the nation's largest integrated healthcare system.

McKesson said it has been serving as the department's prime pharmaceutical provider since 2004.
