Rapid Go-Live Puts ARC Online in One Month DENVER, May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Med Technologies, Inc. (OTC:GLOB) (BULLETIN BOARD: GLOB) , an international e-Health, medical information technology company, today announced that its Wyndgate Technologies(R) (Wyndgate) division has successfully implemented its SafeTrace Tx(R) transfusion management software in a regional facility of the American Red Cross (ARC). The go-live occurred one month after signing a national agreement with the Red Cross to license the software, with two additional regions slated to go live over the next several months. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20040226/GLOBALMEDLOGO) Timothy Pellegrini, Vice President of Operations for Wyndgate Technologies, said, "SafeTrace Tx was installed for the American Red Cross to assist in the handling of imported blood products bearing ISBT 128 product labels." ISBT 128 is the international labeling standard which has been adopted by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), the governing organization for U.S. blood banks. Institutions belonging to AABB have agreed to implement the standard by May 2008. Mr. Pellegrini continued, "Since the first site went live with ISBT 128 functionality in 2002, our domestic and international customers have continued to effectively go-live on SafeTrace and SafeTrace Tx using this labeling standard. The Red Cross chose SafeTrace Tx and Wyndgate's professional services team because of Wyndgate's history of successful ISBT implementations and our ability to handle the time-sensitive nature of this assignment." This new agreement represents an expansion of Wyndgate's existing relationship with the American Red Cross. SafeTrace Tx has been successfully implemented in a centralized transfusion service (CTS) model since 2002 in the ARC Central Plains Blood Services Region, headquartered in Wichita, Kansas. The region provides blood to more than 100 hospitals and serves more than two million people in Kansas and Northern Oklahoma. SafeTrace Tx, which is currently being used in more than 370 sites across the country, is an advanced transfusion management software which allows blood banks to share critical patient information between institutions and more efficiently manage orders and blood product inventory. The system has the comprehensive safety features, centralized transfusion service and application capabilities required to manage critical patient history and special transfusion requirements. These software functions are designed to raise the standard of care for patients, improve safety, reduce waste and increase efficiency. Thomas F. Marcinek, President and COO of Wyndgate Technologies, stated, "Wyndgate is proud of its record of successful ISBT 128 implementations. After assisting clients across the nation with their labeling compliance needs, we were prepared to help the American Red Cross address its requirement to accept units labeled with this standard. Our congratulations go out to the Wyndgate Professional Services team and the Information Technology team at the Red Cross for this timely implementation. SafeTrace Tx will assist the Red Cross in its continuing program to support the quality, reliability and availability of the nation's blood supply." About the American Red Cross: The American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disasters at home and abroad, collects and distributes nearly half of the nation's blood supply, teaches lifesaving skills, and supports military members and families. The American Red Cross, a charity and not a government agency, depends on voluntary contributions of time, money and blood to perform its humanitarian mission. About Global Med Technologies, Inc.
