NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital performed more than 47,000 surgeries
in 2007, creating the critical need for a robust software system to
manage transfusions. SafeTrace Tx is designed to support
enterprise-wide centralized transfusion services (CTS), which is
the management of matching patients to correct blood components
across multi-facility institutions. These processes are supported
by Wyndgate's patent-approved remote crossmatch function in
SafeTrace Tx which helps to prevent excess blood waste by selecting
inventory for transfusion from any of their networked facilities.
The system also provides comprehensive tracking of orders,
specimens, blood products, derivatives and accessories with a
complete testing and transfusion history in one consolidated
record. These software functions can help to raise the standard of
care for patients, improve safety, reduce waste and increase
efficiency in the blood bank. Wm. Scott Dustin, Vice President of
Sales and Marketing for Wyndgate Technologies, cites the ability of
SafeTrace Tx to function in a multi-hospital setting as one of the
key reasons NYP chose Wyndgate's transfusion management software.
"It is vital for NewYork-Presbyterian to be able to move patients
between facilities depending on the medical discipline required.
The advanced functionality in SafeTrace Tx will allow the blood
banks to share critical patient information between institutions
and help their staff to more efficiently manage orders and blood
product inventory." Thomas F. Marcinek, President and Chief
Operating Officer for Wyndgate Technologies, commented, "It is an
honor to have been selected by such an outstanding institution. We
are very proud that NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical
Center has chosen to join the growing list of prominent university
hospitals using Wyndgate's blood management software.
NewYork-Presbyterian has a solid reputation as a leader in
scientific research, advancing medical knowledge, and extending
quality patient care." Mr. Marcinek continued, "Wyndgate
appreciates the important role SafeTrace Tx will play in enhancing
patient care and safety at NYP by enabling dependable access to
critical information. We are committed to developing products which
enhance patient safety and continue to be on the cutting edge of
blood management technology. We look forward to a long relationship
with NewYork-Presbyterian." About NewYork-Presbyterian
