General Motors Co. said Monday it has begun commercial
operations in Canada following the opening of its first full-scale
electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the country, with Deutsche
Post DHL Group slated to be its first Canadian customer.
The auto maker said the Ontario-based plant will build electric
delivery vans of its wholly owned BrightDrop at scale.
Last year, BrightDrop delivered the first Zevo 600s van to
FedEx, GM said.
"Opening the CAMI plant is a major step in providing electric
vehicles at scale and delivering real results to the world's
biggest brands, like DHL Express, who will be our first Canadian
customer," BrightDrop President and CEO Travis Katz said.
