A Boeing Co. executive said public health officials would
determine whether production continues at the plane maker's
factories amid the coronavirus outbreak.
An internal Boeing memo Monday, which was reviewed by The Wall
Street Journal, said the company had 11 confirmed Covid-19 cases
among employees as of Sunday, and 339 employees under quarantine
for suspected exposure.
Another 87 employees have been released from quarantine and
returned to work, said the memo, written by Boeing human resources
chief Heidi Capozzi.
Of the 11 confirmed cases, six of them are employees at Boeing's
Everett, Wash., operations, where the company produces widebody
aircraft. Production of the narrowbody 737 MAX in Renton, Wash.,
remains halted amid a prolonged grounding of that jet following two
deadly crashes.
