DAYTON, Ohio, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MTC Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:MTCT), an industry-recognized provider of aircraft modernization and sustainment, professional services, C4ISR, and logistics solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security agencies, announced today that its subsidiary, Manufacturing Technology, Inc. (MTI), won both individual and team awards in the "Industry" category of its 2007 Department of Defense Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Achievement Awards program. MTI, now part of MTC's Modernization and Sustainment Group, Systems Engineering and Sustainment Division, won the DoD's "Industry Team Award" as a member of the V-22 Osprey-Bell Boeing-MTI team. Additionally, Kasey Wheeler, manager of MTI's Centralized DMSMS Management Office at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, won the DoD's "Industry Individual Award." The awards were presented October 30 at the 2007 Annual DoD DMSMS Conference in Orlando, Florida. The DoD awards recognize both government/industry teams and individuals demonstrating outstanding achievement in providing our nation's Warfighters with increased operational readiness and capability through the proactive management of DMSMS. Specific accomplishments required to win the awards include exceptional DMSMS management of weapons systems; activities resulting in significantly improved quantifiable readiness levels; substantial cost avoidance; exceptional Warfighter support related to or realized through a DMSMS issue; and creation and/or implementation of a DMSMS "Best Practice" with high impact for the Warfighter. The V-22 Osprey -Bell Boeing-MTI team made significant contributions to the success of the DMSMS management program for the V-22 Osprey, a joint service, multi-mission, military tiltrotor aircraft, capable of both vertical and short takeoff and landing. Using MTC's proprietary DMSMS tool, AVCOM, the MTI division created a software program to automate the existing costly, time consuming manual process of creating a problem/resolution report, called a "case sheet." The division's teamwork with Bell Boeing resulted in a direct feed of information to Bell Boeing's Obsolescence Case Management Tool for the Osprey program, providing a paperless, automated management process that reduced processing time from 180 days to 50 days and cleared a backlog of 400 "case sheets." "Our expertise in providing obsolescence solutions transitioned the V-22 DMSMS program from a reactive, fire-fighting process to a proactive management process," said David Mitchell, Director of MTC's Modernization and Sustainment Group. "We are proud of our contribution to this tremendous team effort." MTI's individual winner, Kasey Wheeler, has supported DMSMS initiatives at Tinker AFB for five years. Her efforts have resulted in seamlessly integrating AVCOM into a consolidated data loading and maintenance activity without negatively effecting existing DMSMS practices. This consolidation has provided the capability to load more data by using MTC's AVCOM tool and for less cost than in previous years. "Kasey has been responsible for increasing awareness of AVCOM's capabilities at Tinker Air Force Base," said David Mitchell. "We congratulate her on this well-deserved award that recognizes her efforts in saving the government's time, money and resources while providing quality life cycle sustainment resolutions." MTC delivers Warfighter solutions involving systems engineering, information technology, intelligence, and program management services primarily to the Department of Defense. Cited by Forbes as 16th among the "25 Fastest Growing Technology Companies - 2006;" by Washington Technology as 34th in revenue growth among the "Top 100" IT Federal Prime Contractors; and ranked 14th by Aviation Week & Space Technology among the "Top Performing Companies - 2007," MTC employs approximately 2,900 people in more than 40 locations.
