The Midland Company Breaks Ground on Expansion

- $29 Million Facility to Add Office Space, Expand Training Center,
Create Jobs CINCINNATI, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The
Midland Company (NASDAQ:MLAN), a highly focused provider of
specialty insurance products and services, today broke ground on a
$29 million expansion on its campus in Clermont County, Ohio. The
new facility is expected to help fuel the local economy and bring
150 new jobs to the area over a three-year period. The Midland
Company currently employs nearly 1,000 people at its headquarters.
The expansion, which should be completed in September 2007, is
designed to add some 205,000 square feet of new office space and
expand an existing training center by approximately 20,000 square
feet. The six-story facility is also designed to match the existing
building on the Midland campus. "This expansion reflects the
substantial growth The Midland Company has experienced in recent
years," said John Hayden, president and CEO of The Midland Company.

ground on the expansion, Hayden paid tribute both to the region and

The builder for the project is the Miller-Valentine Group of
Dayton, Ohio. The architect is PDT Architect/Planners of
