COLUMBIA, Md., Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CTIA - M2M Zone Booth #346 -- At CTIA Enterprise & Applications Eurotech, a leading supplier of embedded technologies, products and systems, will demonstrate the new DynaVIS rugged display computer, based on Intel® Atom™ processor, which is one of a broad portfolio of hardware platforms designed to enable machine-to-machine (M2M) communications in a variety of environments. While the Everyware Software Framework (ESF) simplifies development and debugging of application software, hardware options allow OEMs and enterprises to choose the M2M platform that delivers exactly what their business environment requires.

Purpose-built platforms Eurotech has hardware options for rugged environments, mobile applications, and space- and power-constrained devices available today, so developers can choose the specific hardware platform to meet the precise requirements of their application. From wearable computers like the Zypad BR2000, to intelligent gateway platforms and mobile access routers like the Helios and DuraMAR family, Eurotech offers a broad portfolio of hardware platforms for different M2M environments. The new DynaVIS display computer, on display in booth #346 at CTIA Enterprise & Applications, is ruggedized and targeted for transportation environments. All these hardware options are based on the Intel Atom processor.

Third-party hardware Eurotech ESF platform resides on the Intel® architecture based-M2M Smart Services Gateway development kit, further expanding the pool of devices users have available to suit their M2M needs. The development kit offers a flexible platform for M2M application coding, which is reusable on other hardware platforms as necessary.

Software portability Since ESF runs on multiple hardware platforms, developers write their application software once and can port the software to a different platform also running ESF. This capability extends the life of the software and means developers are reusing code to simplify the delivery of a specific application over many platforms. For instance, in a medical environment, the same data capture and display application can reside on a panel PC in an ambulance, on a device in an emergency or operating room, and on a wearable computer a doctor or nurse uses when visiting patients in recovery.

"Eurotech's hardware options for M2M, including Intel® Atom™ processor-based products, give users many options when they're looking for the platform that is the best suited for their needs," said Pete Dombrowski, Director of Hardware Engineering for Eurotech in North America. "With ESF on these platforms, developers have a precise match between the software framework and highly capable system hardware running under low power constraints, in harsh environments, and with wired and wireless connectivity options so they can deliver effective M2M services."

"Eurotech's focus on enabling M2M solutions through a portfolio of Intel® Atom™ processor based hardware platforms combined with their Everyware Software Framework brings the potential of M2M services to life for enterprises across industries and verticals," explained Kevin Johnson, director of Connected Devices, Intel Corporation.  "Intel and Eurotech are working with other industry leaders to enable the reality of M2M applications today, helping developers, OEMs and enterprises bring M2M devices and services to market quickly."

Visit Eurotech and Intel at CTIA in the M2M Zone Booth #346, October 11-13, 2011 to see the new Eurotech DynaVIS rugged display computer as well as other cloud-ready M2M devices.
